Privacy, cookies & accessibility
Last updated [date to confirm]. This is a draft. Wording will be finalised so it matches the site's actual data flows before launch — it must be accurate, not boilerplate.
Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data the Julie Edge campaign collects through this website, why, and how it's handled under the Isle of Man Data Protection legislation and applicable GDPR standards.
What we collect
Only the minimum needed for each action — for example your name and email when you volunteer, pledge, subscribe, or contact us, plus any details you choose to include in a message. We record the date and source of your consent.
How we use it
To respond to you, coordinate volunteering, send updates you've asked for, and run the campaign. Newsletter consent is kept separate from volunteering — we don't bundle them, and subscribing uses double opt-in (you confirm by email).
Who processes your data
Retention & your rights
We keep supporter data only as long as needed and apply a retention policy after the election [period to confirm]. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data at any time, and unsubscribe from emails in one click. Contact the campaign's data owner via the contact page. We never put personal data in URLs, logs or analytics.
Cookies
We aim to run with privacy-preserving defaults: no non-essential cookies are set without your opt-in. Any analytics we use is chosen to be cookieless where possible. If that changes, a clear consent banner will let you choose before anything non-essential loads.
Accessibility statement
This site is built to target WCAG 2.2 AA: semantic structure, keyboard navigation with visible focus, labelled form fields, colour contrast checked against AA, and alt text on all real images. Motion is limited to subtle scroll reveals and respects your “reduce motion” setting. The manifesto PDF will be produced as an accessible, tagged document.
